Scripophily is perhaps the newest and fastest growing hobby dealing with the collecting of currency related items. What is Scripophily? Basically, it is the collecting of used, usually cancelled, stock and bond certificates. These collectibles have no monetary or current stock value so why collect them? Because you are collecting history. Whether it is the history of a country, a company, a person, an era or simply an artistic style, these items were usually purchased by a specific person, or company, at a documentable date in time. As previously mentioned on this site, most of my interest focuses on pre-1945 Germany. There are many interesting and very artistic post-currency reform Weimar bond certificates available at a reasonable cost, as well as, several Nazi era war bonds which is always a favorite among WWII and militaria collectors. I hope you will take the time to check a few out in my store. |
